Stain

A stain is a liquid which is used for the purpose of adding color to wood. It is made primarily using water, some form of colorant such as pigments or dyes, solvents which are used to control drying and a binder which is usually resin.

What is Stain Used For?

Stain is a type of product which is commonly used to add a pigment or color to wood. It generally offers a degree of moisture protection as well and will help prevent wood from rotting. Stains come in a variety of colors and styles with varying degrees of moisture protection.

A light brown is the most common color found with wood stains. A redwood colored stain is also a very popular choice. Wood stains are used quite frequently to finish a treated wood which was used for the purpose of building a deck or to add an extra layer of protection and color to wood siding, which are thin panels of wood used as an alternative to stucco or vinyl  siding.
