Say Goodbye to Your Dirty Garage with Epoxy Flooring

Oil, grease, and car fluids can make even a well-swept garage floor look dirty. Getting stains out of concrete can be difficult. Replacing a concrete floor isn't usually an option for most homeowners.  Try giving your garage floor a showroom finish by protecting it with epoxy flooring.

What is Epoxy Flooring?

Epoxy flooring is a liquid floor coating that can be applied to concrete. It is even rolled on, much like paint. It comes in a variety of colors and color chips so you can match the epoxy to your work area or home décor. It may look and spread like paint, but the difference between epoxy flooring and paint is its durability. Once sealed and dry, unlike paint, epoxy coating is impervious to automobile fluids making it easy to clean while aesthetically more appealing than concrete.

Basics to Apply Epoxy Flooring

Like any surface about to get a new coating, your garage floor must be thoroughly cleaned before you apply the epoxy. The cleaner the floor, the better the adhesion. All residue and traces of oil and grease must be removed before you apply the epoxy. There are several ways to do this, but many products come with emulsifiers to make the task easier, often with just a one-step application. While the process involves some labor, it's a job most DIYers are capable of finishing in a day.
