Electric Ceiling Fans

If you are attempting to conserve energy, create constant airflow, or just want to add a decorative touch to any room, an electric ceiling fan might just be what you are looking for. An electric ceiling fan will cool in the warm months and pull warm air down from the ceiling during colder months.

Tips for choosing an electric ceiling fan

Before purchasing an electric ceiling fan you will first need to get the room dimensions. A room that has smaller dimensions (12' by 12') will require an electric ceiling fan that is no more that 36" in diameter. A room between 12' and 15' needs a ceiling fan that is 42" in diameter. Any room larger than 15' can handle a 52" ceiling fan. If you are adding a ceiling fan to a much larger room, you may want to consider installing more than one.

Electric ceiling fan installation

If you are installing the electric ceiling fan yourself, first turn off the electricity to ensure your safety. If you want to illuminate a room, you will need to purchase a ceiling fan that has lights attached or purchase a light kit.

Be sure to read the instruction booklet that comes with any ceiling fan before attempting the installation. If you are unsure ask a professional at any home improvement store for advice on installing an electric ceiling fan.
