Are Your Windows Going Out of Style?

Are Your Windows Going Out of Style? Windows are more than just a way to get light and air into your home. They are also your frame on the world, an expression of your home's identity - and yours as well.

A window not only gives your house individuality, it can ultimately enhance your experience of interior and exterior space. With so many styles, designs and structural advantages to choose from, replacing windows can be a creative way for you to identify with your home.

When deciding on the design of your new replacement windows, you should select a style that not only enhances the interior and exterior appearance of your home, but also a structure that can be easily maintained. After all, what good is a beautifully designed window that hasn't been cleaned?  With today's amazing new hardware, it is easy to find a style to enhance your home's appearance and also make maintenance simple.

The most common window styles to choose from include bay, bow, single-hung, double-hung, sliding, garden and casement windows. You can also customize your window style with specialty-shaped windows.

One of the most brilliant ways to change the appearance of your home is to replace a flat picture window with a beautiful bow or bay window. Bow or bay windows are the easiest way to create an illusion of space. The extra light emitted through these windows adds dimension and texture to the house. As an additional perk, certain bow or bay windows are equipped with a deep seat board. Deep seat boards are a wonderful place to relax and view the world through the eyes of your home.

Bow and bay windows are available in a multitude of styles and sizes. The most common style is the angled bay window. The window actually slants back towards the wall at a 30 to 45 degree angle, creating a soft visual appearance. However, if the side sash is angled at 90 degrees, forming a square shape, it is then called a box bay. When the roof of a box bay is made of glass, a garden window is formed. Garden windows are not only pleasing to the eye, but they are also practical in that they receive excellent direct sunlight which allows plants and flowers to grow all year round.

Other styles include casement or double-hung windows. Casement windows are very popular because they adapt to an array of architecture while adding more natural light to a room. Double-hung windows are also well-liked mainly because they tilt in for easy cleaning, which makes them easy to maintain. Similarly, sliding windows are also very easy to clean because they have sashes that lift out.

Whether your interest is appearance or practicality, there is an improved window style out there for you.  For more information on the style that is right for you, and to connect with a window professional in your area, request a no-obligation window replacement quote.
