Project Summary

This started out as a simple (!) octagonal dining room pedestal table. I had looked at some of the flip-top dining/card table designs, but opted to design my own. It was done in two parts; the table was finished 3 or 4 months ago and I finally got around to building the card-table top that simply sits right on top of the dining top. Originally intended to make the card top in sections that could be dismantled, but now I think it'll just stay together and we'll store it under our bed protected by an old sheet between uses.

Padding is 1" high density foam attached to pieces of 1/2" plywood and covered with marine grade fake leather. You can see them in process of assembly in the picture in the lower left of the "More photos section".

Nice! What did you use for the padding?
